Chair Yoga

Level: Beginners

Class Description:

A slower paced class for those new to yoga, those with injuries preventing them from standing for long periods of time, for seniors, and/or anyone who wants to start to put movement into the body without the physical demands of standing up and coming down to the floor repeatedly during a class. An armless chair will be required as we explore range of motion, movements, strength, and balance.  We will flow through traditional yoga poses and stretches while seated in our chair.

What to Expect:

We allow the first few minutes of class to be a discussion among the students, so they can build a network and connection with those in the class. We then start with connecting to breath, body, and intention, then move into a gentle warm up for the body.  We will work through range of motion, gentle strengthening exercises, and incorporate balance into the class.  The end of the class will end with a meditation.

Yin/Flexibility Classes
Level: All Levels

Class Description:

The yoga stream offer three variations of our yin classes.

Spin on Yin (Every other Monday)

This class is a fusion of Yin Yoga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga.  Poses are more grounded like a Yin class, however are not held quite as long. We flow through poses in more of a Vinyasa fashion, but allow pauses of 1-5 minutes in the more passive poses to allow a deeper stretch.

Stretch & Renew

A 30-minute deep stretching yoga session.  Poses are held to leave the body feeling renewed and refreshed.  All non-standing poses.

What to Expect:

Grounded passive poses at a slower pace than a vinyasa class. Several grounded poses will be held for longer periods of time to allow for deep tissue stretching.

Foam Roller
Level: Intermediate

Class Description:

This class incorporates 80% foam roller and 20% traditional yoga.  For this class, the students will be required to have a foam roller to use during the class (ideally a soft, full-size foam roller).  This class works through fascia release (the connective tissue that surrounds and holds organs, bones, nerve fibers, blood vessels, and muscles in place). Foam rolling can increase blood flow, flexibility, and assist with relieving soreness.

What to Expect:

80% of the class will be using the foam roller to roll out the fascia and tension.  The foam roller will also be used as a prop for traditional yoga poses.
